These images, made with double exposure on 35mm film, were taken between Memorial Day and July 4th, 2011. They are a collage of memories and as much about freedom as the beginning of any American summer. They are layers and complexities. As I consider the wars abroad and smaller battles here at home I wonder how we might honor the past without sacrificing the future.
